COALS Merit Senior Scholarship

April 2021

The purpose of this event was to award seniors in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences for the top academic achievements. At this award ceremony I learned how important timing was. Each student who came to receive an award had a scheduled time
to enter the venue, take pictures with department staff, and be escorted to the gardens to take more pictures with their family and friends.

RPTS Tailgate

October 2021

The purpose of the tailgate was to gather current and former students and their family and friends to get excited about the South Carolina game. At this event I learned that adding more activities for guests to participate in makes the event more successful. The tailgate event group did an amazing job setting everything up and the atmosphere was amazing.

Team Lead

August - November 2021

In the beginning of 2021, I was assigned to work with a group to plan out a fundraising event for the Brazos County A&M Club. This club is an extension of The Association of Former Students at Texas A&M. Our group was to plan out the event and by the end of 2021 we were to implement our event. Originally I was not a team lead but due to some complications I was assigned to be the new group’s team lead. At first I was extremely nervous and was unsure that I could be a great team lead. Fortunately, I had an amazing group who were able to be flexible and assist me with our project plans. As a team lead, I was the main contact point between our client and my group. I delegated tasks to each member of my group based on their strengths and what they were most comfortable focusing on. The planning process is the longest part about event planning but if you plan out as many details as possible, then your event will have a higher chance of being more successful.

Beats & BBQ Bash

November 2021

Beats & BBQ Bash was a fundraising event planned by a group of students, including me, who partnered with The Brazos County A&M Club. This event was held on November 13, 2021 and was hosted by The Savage Brew Lab in Downtown Bryan. The purpose of this event was to raise scholarship money for students at Texas A&M. At this event I learned that event planners and venue owners need to be in direct contact and have open communication about what the event design and all of the event memorabilia will be. As part of our takeaway items we wished to hand out 16oz glasses to our VIP guests but the event owner informed us that there cannot be any glass on the premiss. Our group then decided to just wait until our guests left to hand them their glass. If we would have contacted the event owners sooner we would not have had to change that plan.
